Twitter Develops Leave this Conversation Feature

Twitter’s new feature is different from Mute this Conversation.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Twitter is reportedly developing a unique feature called “Leave this Conversation”. This feature can later be useful for Twitter users to avoid a conversation they don’t like but the user has been tagged in the conversation.

If the feature is enabled, the user will automatically not be re-marked in a chat or thread that he doesn’t like. Quote from The VergeWednesday (23/2/2022), the news was first announced by a technology researcher Jane Manchun Wong in his squeak.

This feature seems to have a different function from the “Mute this Conversation” feature which is useful for someone who doesn’t get a notification when a thread mentions or flags a Twitter user. In further conversation in Jane’s thread, it is feared that the presence of the “Leave this Conversation” feature could cause friction in other users when activated.

Because users can see someone’s disinterest in discussing a topic. So that can lead to a fight. Because when the feature is activated automatically, netizens on Twitter can only see usernames but are not linked to their accounts or linked by hyperlinks as usual.

Twitter reportedly declined to comment on the plan for the new feature. But most recently, Twitter has recently introduced features for its users to connect with other users. This includes limiting tweet replies to notifications when a tweet is retweeted by accounts with multiple users.
