Annual inflation in Latvia was 7.5% in January. The highest inflation last month was in Lithuania (12.2%), Estonia (11%), the Czech Republic (8.8%) and Poland (8.7%).

The EU average annual inflation was 5.6% in January, compared with 5.1% in the euro area.

Compared to the previous month – December – consumer prices in January in the EU increased by 0.5%, but in the euro area – by 0.3%.

In Latvia, as in Italy, Malta and Austria, consumer prices remained unchanged in January compared with December, in Lithuania they increased by 1.9%, but in Estonia they decreased by 0.3%. The highest monthly inflation was in the Czech Republic (4.6%), while another month of deflation was recorded in Greece (-0.2%), Ireland (-0.4%), Sweden (-0.6%) and Cyprus (-0.7%). %) and Spain (-0.8%).
