Due to heavy wind gusts, the plane suffered a hydraulic failure and the pilot of Elton’s plane had to make an emergency landing, but that was not immediately possible. It was not until the third attempt that the aircraft returned to the ground and both passengers and crew were able to breathe a sigh of relief. The plane eventually landed at Farnborough Airport near London.

“It was awful to see the plane ‘frolic’ with the wind, because you know there are several people on board. The nose of the plane was way too vertical. The plane was descending and halfway through the runway it flew again into the air. You are then just at the mercy of the laws and power of nature, however terrible that is. When the plane finally landed safely on the third attempt, everyone on the ground breathed a sigh of relief,” said a person who saw the whole.
