Long COVID is a term used to describe prolonged symptoms when infected with the Corona virus. This condition usually lasts more than 12 weeks or longer, depending on the patient’s condition.
Long COVID can not only occur in patients infected with the original strain of Corona virus or Delta, but has also been reported in Omicron patients. A recent study found that the Omicron variant of the Corona virus can cause neurological symptoms that are part of the long COVID-19 virus.
Here are seven neurological symptoms when infected with the Omicron variant:
- Cognitive impairment
- brain fog (brain fog)
- Loss of concentration or having memory problems
- Headache
- Sleep disturbance
- Tingling or numbness
- Dizziness or delirious in parents
However, the neurological symptoms experienced by each patient can vary and change over time.
Quoted from Express, Wednesday (23/2/2022), the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) said there were other symptoms that patients with the Omicron variant of COVID-19 might experience. These symptoms are related to respiratory or cardiovascular that must be watched out for, such as:
- Hard to breathe
- Cough
- Asphyxiate
- Chest pain
- Heart beat
- Other symptoms that may arise when infected with the Omicron variant of COVID-19 include:
- Fatigue
- Fever
- Painful
- Tinnitus (some people)
- Earache
- Sore throat
- Loss of sense of taste and smell
- skin rash
- Joint and muscle pain
- Stomach pain, nausea or diarrhea
- Decreased appetite
- Weight loss
In the NHS report, it should be noted that the length of recovery from symptoms does not always correlate with the severity of the disease or the time the patient is in hospital.
“If new symptoms continue to appear and make you worry, seek medical attention immediately or consult a health service immediately,” the NHS said.
