Los Angeles County mask mandate to be lifted indoors | Univision 34 Los Angeles KMEX

Los Angeles California.- The mandate for the use of the mask could be raised indoors for vaccinated people this Friday, according to Supervisor Janice Hahn.

The county Health Department “is issuing a new health order (it appears to go into effect Friday) that allows vaccinated individuals to remove their masks inside locations that check for proof of vaccination,” Hahn wrote in his twitter account.

The measure would bring Los Angeles County closer to California state guidelines.

Wearing a mask in California

The state of California changed the rules for the use of masks indoors, which must now only be used by people who are not vaccinated. However, wearing masks indoors remains mandatory in Los Angeles County.

“Currently, the CDC recommends that mask use be maintained in all indoor settings until community transmission reach a moderate level“, the director of the health department, Barbara Ferrer, said this Friday. Los Angeles County has been in moderate transmission for 7 consecutive days”.

Hahn’s announcement could move even closer to lifting the mask order that Ferrer announced would take a few weeks to issue.
