The idea of founding and locating a technology transfer center (TTZ) as an in-institute of the University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt (FHWS) in the district is taking shape. An important prerequisite for this is that the region agrees on a research topic and that the funding of an endowed professorship is secured for the first five years, according to a press release from the district office.
At the invitation of district administrator Tamara Bischof, representatives of the Kitzingen economy met again in the large conference room of the district office. It became clear that the economy in the district of Kitzingen urgently wants such a transfer center and is also willing to make its financial contribution here. According to the result of the exchange, the thematic priorities should be in the field of construction technology and robotics/artificial intelligence.
In the coming weeks, other potential partners from business will be approached in order to win them over to the idea of a technology transfer center. “We now have the opportunity to place our district on the science map of the Free State of Bavaria with the help of the FHWS and to discuss our vision of a sustainable technology transfer from science to industry together with the responsible Ministry of Science,” says District Administrator Bischof with conviction.
“Our university would be very pleased if initiatives for further TTZs were to emerge in all districts of Mainfranken in the medium term,” says Prof. Dr. habil. Jürgen Hartmann, Vice President Research, Knowledge and Technology Transfer at the FHWS. In addition to the Kitzinger, there are currently other initiatives to found TTZs in the districts of Bad Kissingen and Main Spessart, according to the statement. Together they want to convince the Ministry of Science in Munich to promote the establishment and settlement of further TTZs in Bad Neustadt an der Saale in the field of electromobility and in Haßfurt in the field of corrugated plastic pipes in Mainfranken through financial support.
