Just before 15.00 today, the police reported that there had been a traffic accident between a car and a truck on E39 at Hovsvatnet in Lund municipality. According to the police, there will be talk of a front-to-front collision.
The police inform NRK just over half past three that they are on site with two units, but that there are large amounts of resources on the way. Both ambulances from Flekkefjord and Stavanger, and the air ambulance are on their way to the site.
– What we know is that there is one person in the car and one in the trailer. I have not received any detailed information about the extent of the damage, says operations manager Toralv Skårland to NRK.

Person to hospital by air ambulance
Operations Manager Skårland informs NRK just before half past four that a person has been transported by air ambulance to hospital.
– The police treat this as a serious traffic accident. There is major material damage, but I can not say anything about damage to the person, says Skårland.
Closed road for hours
The forensic department of the police has been called out. The same is true of the Norwegian Public Roads Administration’s accident group. It will take time before they are on site, the operations manager states.
– The road will be closed for several hours in the future. In parallel, Vegtrafikksentralen has also called in a contractor to provide detour options, says Skårland.
According to Skårland, the police’s own emergency vehicles have reported locally slippery and difficult driving conditions. However, he will not say whether that may be the cause of the accident.
2-3 degrees
Kjell Andreas Heskestad is 200-300 meters from the accident site. He talks about slippery roads.
– Now it has just risen from 2-3 degrees. It’s soapy, he says.
There are also not many detour options, all options go up the mountain. So Heskestad is prepared to stand in line for a long time.
The traffic is in both directions, and it is uncertain when the road will reopen.
