Vinh Phuc (VNA) – The northern province of Vinh Phuc has invested nearly 2.14 trillion VND (about 93.86 million US dollars) in the collection, transport and treatment of daily waste in its districts and communities with the aim of reducing pollution.

Of this amount, more than 655 billion VND came from private funds.

Statistics show that about 920 tons of garbage are dumped daily in Vinh Phuc province, including 570 tons in rural areas and 350 in urban areas. The collection rate is more than 75% in rural areas and 95% in urban areas.

Vinh Phuc has developed a daily waste collection and treatment project for 2025 with a vision for 2030.

The project aims to finalize a comprehensive waste treatment system in the province by 2025, increasing the collection and treatment rate in urban and rural areas to 97% and 90%, respectively.

To this end, the province is strengthening communication to raise public awareness of waste collection and sorting. Vinh Phuc has developed and promulgated several incentives to encourage recycling. It also supported the training and recruitment of human resources in the processing plants. At the same time, local businesses and cooperatives undertaking the work have access to loans from the province’s Environmental Protection Fund.

Vinh Phuc made a list of waste treatment plant projects that require funds, new and environmentally friendly technologies.

The province currently has 34 companies, 117 cooperatives and groups involved in the waste treatment, as well as 37 small-scale incinerators, in addition to 232 landfills covering 31 ha, and one incinerator capable of processing 75 tons per day in Tam Duong district. -VNA
