Magazine MP1st created a very nice comparison gallery, in which he focused on the details of the main characters from the games in particular Horizon Zero Dawn, Death Stranding a Horizon Forbidden West. The point is, of course, to find out what progress the developers and the entire Decima engine technology have made from the Guerrilla Games studio, which was also used by the Kojima Productions team. In addition to the aforementioned games, the engine also drove the titles Killzone: Shadow Fall, Until Dawn, Until Dawn: Rush of Blood and RIGS: Mechanized Combat League. The originally nameless technology was named after the connection with Kojima Productions after the artificial Japanese island of Dejima, where a Dutch commercial enclave was established in the 17th century.
The comparison itself is remarkable and proves that progress has still not stopped and what details can be found in game graphics today. The textures and models are becoming more detailed, and there is no doubt that the progress of Death Stranding could have had a positive impact on the new Horizon. Describing the details would be carrying the wood into the woods, see for yourself and make your own judgment. In any case, it’s amazing what little things developers can do in open world games today. These details are so insignificant that one does not even have a chance to notice them during normal play. Yet they are there. Such as the texture of the wood and the worn color on Aloy beads or the naughty hair around her ears.
You can view the complete gallery on the web MP1st. Unfortunately, the comparison does not better reflect which versions it is.
