Jakarta –
The BRI Liga 1 2021/2022 match between Persipura Jayapura vs Madura United FC has been cancelled. PT Liga Indonesia Baru immediately consulted with PSSI.
The Persipura vs Madura United match, which will be held on Monday (21/2), is the 22nd week of the BRI Liga 1 2021 postponed match. The match was cancelled.
The reason is that Persipura did not come to the stadium until the kick-off of the match. The team from Jayapura was apparently hit by a COVID-19 storm in their squad.
Persipura previously sent a letter of application regarding the BRI League 1 Persipura vs Madura United match numbered 004/Persipura/II/2022. The letter is dated February 20, 2022.
The contents of the letter explained that Persipura could not compete after the results of the PCR test conducted on February 20, 2022, showed that 9 team personnel had tested positive. The breakdown is three officials and 6 players exposed.
In the letter it was written, “then we coordinated with LIB to conduct a comparative test on Monday, February 21, 2022. If the results of the comparison test are still some players with a positive Covid-19 status, then the Persipura Jayapura Team CANNOT COMPETE due to (1) the number of players there will be many who are unable to play, (2) eliminate the principle of fairness.”
PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) and the Covid-19 Task Force at BRI Liga 1 2021/2022 then retested. The result, according to the letter sent by LIB with the number 100/LIB-KOM/II/2022 stated, negative results reached 21 players and 7 officials. While the positive results are 6 players, 3 officials.
Thus, in a letter sent by LIB to Persipura management on February 21, 2022, it was explained that more than 14 negative players were found so that they did not meet the elements of Article 52 paragraph 7 of the Regulation of BRI Liga 1 – 2021/2022 and there was no need for an emergency meeting to be held.
“There are no extraordinary events related to Covid. This is the case like the 1973 Persikabo versus Bali United match, a few weeks ago. The match continues,” explained LIB Operations Director, Sudjarno, in a release received by detikSport, Monday (21/2) night WIB.
“From us, everything is ready. LOC, referee, security, are already at the stadium. The Madura United team has also arrived at the stadium,” he added.
The President Director of PT LIB, Akhmad Hadian Lukita, emphasized that regarding the status of the canceled matches, everything must be returned to the regulations that have been made.
“We will consult this with PSSI first,” said Akhmad Hadian Lukita.
Persipura is currently ranked 16th in the 2021 Liga 1 standings with 22 points. Meanwhile, Madura United is in 12th place with 25 points.
