We are going to go around the world from Carnival to Carnival, enjoying the most raunchy party of the year; We will start by saying that we have some of the most fun, glamorous and delicious carnivals nearby, they are Spanish, we have already talked about some of them here, but today we are going to travel a little further and we are going to enjoy the Carnival of other countries.
We start with Europe, for that of not going too far, and we go, of course, to Venice but also to Cologne, in Germany, to the London neighborhood of Notting Hill (the one in the film, yes) and to the French Riviera, to Nice ; from Europe we flew to America to experience the wonderful Mardi Grass in New Orleans, the carnival in Barranquilla (in Colombia, where Shakira sings on a bicycle…) and, of course, the carnival in Rio de Janeiro.
Venice Italy)
The one in Venice is not only a famous carnival, it is all glamor and elegance, it is a historical carnival where they exist; 18th century costumes (hence the glamour), white, silver, gold masks… complete outfits that look like haute couture or from a historical movie; The Venice Carnival has already started, it did on the 12th, but it won’t end until March 1. Its big day? Shrove Tuesday, of course.
Cologne (Germany)
They say that Oktoberfest is not the craziest party in Germany, that this title is held by the Cologne Carnival, a party that this year is celebrated from February 24 to March 1; Its big day is Carnival Monday (Rose Monday), that day its big parade is celebrated with costumes and floats, and the bars are open 24 hours…
Notting Hill, London (UK)
Don’t be in a hurry, this carnival is not celebrated in February like all the others, it will be in August when the London neighborhood of Notting Hill celebrates its carnival; that weekend, especially on Monday which is a holiday in London, the street fills with costumes, the carnival parade takes place, there are street food stalls… and all this at the end of August when the cold has not yet taken hold town.
Nice (France)
It is celebrated from February 11 to 27 and it is, without a doubt, the most important carnival in France and is famous for its parades and flower battles, on the last day of the carnival the King of Carnival is burned in a boat in the sea.
New Orleans (USA)
Mardi Grass is a very special carnival and if you are a Jazz lover, it is this and no other that you will want to live and enjoy; You have just enough time to get organized because it is celebrated on Tuesday, March 1, and its parade -Grand Parade- is world famous.
Barranquilla, Colombia)
You are very much in time to enjoy this carnival that happens to be the most important festival in Colombia because it is celebrated from March 26 to 29; there are battles of flowers, music and dance in the streets, parades, litanies, troupes, comedies… There is no moment of the day without its carnival grace.
Rio de janeiro Brazil)
It is probably the most famous in the world. Who doesn’t know about the great Rio carnival parade that ends at the sambódromo? This is another carnival for which you have time to prepare and organize the trip because, due to the pandemic, it has been delayed and will be held in April, from April 20 to 30. In 2021 Brazil did not celebrate its carnivals (neither in Rio nor in any other city) but last summer it was confirmed that in 2022 there would be a party, important information because beyond the roots of the party, which is a lot, the economic damage of his non-celebration is a millionaire; but in January, just a month ago, it was confirmed that, given the progress of the pandemic, the celebrations will be delayed until April.
