The most powerful Fiat 500 ever: a supercar engine was mounted on the Italian subcompact for a crazy effect
The Fiat 500 it is an iconic car for Italians; the small car that has written pages in the history of the world of four wheels in our country. It went into production in 1957 and was a real success; the credit also goes to the special versions created over the years, until 1969 when they went out of production.
And Fiat, in a sort of amarcord project, then revived the new 500 starting from 2007, and is still in production today, with the body reminiscent of the appearance of the first model produced except for the position of the engine; today it is in fact at the front and not at the rear. From 2020 on the 500 there is also the fully electric modelthe first ever made by the Italian house.
A success that knows no boundaries, that of the 500, so great that the 500L and the 500X were also born from the small utility car, the two “older sisters“; but also and above all many were born special versionsin homage to famous events or brands.
However, there is no shortage of very special cars, almost extreme experiments carried out on the 500. And the reference is to the workshops of the Hahn Auto Restoration of Harmony, Pennsylvania in the United States.
Fiat 500 V8 Hellcat, the engine is very powerful
The Hahn Auto Restoration wanted to combine the Italian icon, the 500, and the motoring icon of the United States, the motore V8 Hemi driving the Dodge Charger, one of the iconic overseas cars.
The result was the Fiat 500 V8 Hellcat, a real monster of power. The mechanics therefore decided to adapt the bodywork of the subcompact Fiat in order to contain in its bonnet the V8 of a Dodge, the most powerful of the range, the SRT Hellcat. We are talking about a 6.2-liter engine for a crazy power of 717 horsepower and 880 Nm of torque.

A transformation that was also and above all achieved thanks to the help of scale models and 3D graphics to fine-tune every single detail. “L’idea – the words of Bill Hahn – is to build a car that in the United States were used for dragster competitions in the 1950s, the Topolino, also equipped with V8 Hemi engines“.
