University students will be able to return to face-to-face classes

The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Mescyt) reported this Sunday that its head, Dr. Franklin García Fermín, authorized the face-to-face return to university classrooms after the lifting of restrictions by President Luis Abinader on February 16.

Students will be able to return to the higher education system without the need to show COVID-19 vaccination cards. It will be a citizen responsibility on the part of the students and the authorities of the Higher Education Institutions (IES) to continue with the protocols that they must follow.

The authorities indicated in a press release that the lifting of the restrictions will allow all students to join the classrooms as soon as possible and thus be able to recover the total normality of HEIs in the country.

Although virtuality is a subject learned by HEIs globally, the Ministry will be following up on this call for face-to-face attendance to guarantee compliance with the provision.

Institutions with an educational model supported by virtuality will be able to resume their model and those, which due to the experience acquired during the pandemic and show interest in continuing with some virtual programs, must submit the request to the MESCYT for your review and approval.

“We are satisfied with the recovery that the country has had, thanks to the policy of our government headed by President Luis Abinader, as well as the vaccination strategies established by the health cabinet led by Vice President Raquel Peña,” García said. Fermin.

“This provision will bring a full return to our university life by overcoming this pandemic that affected everyone globally. We are satisfied with the tenacity and strength shown by our higher education system through these two years of collective effort”, the official stressed.
