Sylvia Pasquel produces and directs the theatrical version of Horas contadas – El Sol de México

hours counted It has gone from being narrated first as a short film, then through streaming due to the conditions of the pandemic and now it will finally arrive in theater at the Sylvia Pasquel Forum, on Saturdays and Sundays until March 27.

What is special about this work? First of all, it is not just a story, since it is a set of monologues that recover the life of Elizabeth the First of England, Sharon Tate or Edith Piaf, women who enjoyed success and power through their work, but whose endings were fateful.

“These are women who continue to affect our cultures to this day, who continue to be of great importance today,” says Sylvia Pasquel, who along with Karina Duprez heads this show as director and producer, whose dramaturgy was performed by Gilda Salinas. .

“The mission of this project is for people to learn about these extraordinary lives and when they leave the forum, goglee and be interested in them, because they are personalities of women who continue to impact us”.

The production is made up of a group of actresses who have come together to tell the stories of these women. They are: Fanny Sarfati, who tells the story of Elizabeth the First of England; Sandra Galeano as Josephine Baker; Georgina Rábago playing Juana la loca; Arianna from Mexico in the role of Edith Piaf and Amaya Blas as Sharon Tate and Elis Regina.

Fátima Torre also participates playing Dolores Tosta; Carmen Delgado with the double role of Luisa de Orleans and Violeta Parra; as well as Rocío García recreating Antonieta Rivas Mercado.

“We have 12 actresses, each one of them has a monologue and in each performance a triad is presented. Depending on the date we organize the calendar so suddenly you can have a Queen Elizabeth I sharing with Josephine Baker and Sharon Tate. The variety is fascinating, because they are all very loving and dedicated actresses.”

The cinema opens doors

After starring in the film The devil between the legs by Arturo Ripstein, Sylvia Pasquel is proud to say that the doors of cinema have been opened to her in a different way.

The film that she made with Alejandro Suárez debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2019, later she won the Best Director award at the Malaga Festival, and for the actress it meant a turning point in her career, as she opened the doors of contemporary cinema again.

“I think that The devil between the legs It is a film that will always continue to be talked about. It is a classic by Mr. Arturo Ripstein, he arrives at a very special stage and age in his life and it is a story that will follow his path, which may be slowly but surely”.

Sylvia Pasquel shares that from then on, the eyes of film directors see her in a different way, “because then they minimize those of us who work in television or theater, as if we are a minor genre. Especially those of us who do television”.

However, this role opened up new opportunities for her, including a movie that she wants to be a part of. “They offered me a movie that I love and every day I pray to Saint Michael the Archangel to give me the character, because he is a great role. They also offered me two series and a soap opera. So we are seeing that we can do everything”, he concludes.
