leprosy treatment is free and available in health facilities

The Secretary General of the Ministry of Public Health and National Solidarity, Dr. Ismael Barh Bachar, made a statement on February 19 on the occasion of the 69th World Leprosy Day.

The goal sought through this celebration is to show solidarity with the victims of this disease through charitable gestures, to raise public awareness of the disease and to advocate for decision-makers. Leprosy is a curable disease but not hereditary nor a divine curse, says Dr. Ismael Barh Bashar.

The Secretary General of the Ministry of Public Health and National Solidarity reassures that treatment is free and available in all health facilities. The Ministry of Public Health and National Solidarity classifies this disease among the priorities. The government and its partners are still making efforts to eradicate it.

Dr. Ismael Barh Bachar invites all the actors involved in this fight to dedication in order to achieve the desired objective.
