In a huge matchup with a playoff flavor, the Philadelphia 76ers, still without James Harden, stormed the Milwaukee Bucks court with a sensational Joel Embiid: 42 points (14 of 21 shooting), 14 rebounds and 5 assists.
Giannis Antetokounmpo touched the triple-double (32 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists) in a Bucks that missed a triple by Khris Middleton to have tied the game at the buzzer.
Pelicans 118 – Mavericks 125
Luka Doncic destroyed the New Orleans Pelicans with 49 points (17 of 35 shooting, 7 of 14 triples), 15 rebounds and 8 assists, and led the Dallas Mavericks to their sixth victory in the last seven games.
CJ McCollum (38 points with 7 three-pointers) was the best of the Pelicans who pressed without a prize in the last quarter and in which the Spanish Willy Hernangómez did not have minutes.
Hornets 107 – Heat 111
Tearful night in Charlotte. The Hornets blew a 14-point lead in the fourth quarter, missed a game-winning free throw by Montrezl Harrell in the first overtime and ended up falling to the Miami Heat in the second overtime.
Miles Bridges (29 points and 11 rebounds) was the highlight of a depressed Hornets that have lost nine of their last ten games.
Nets 103 – Wizards 117
The Washington Wizards dominated the last quarter (25-39) to defeat the Brooklyn Nets at home, still far from their best level and in which Ben Simmons has yet to make his debut.
Patty Mills was the best of the Nets with 22 points while Rui Hachimura shone with 20 points in a Wizards in which the Brazilian Raul Neto played 21 minutes and got 12 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.
Clippers 142 – Rockets 111
With their highest score so far this season, the Los Angeles Clippers overcame a Houston Rockets who have lost seven in a row and who showed significant deficiencies in defense.
Luke Kennard, with 8 of 9 in triples, led the avalanche of the Angelenos (55.4% in field goals with 51.4% in triples, 18 of 35) while Jalen Green, number two in the last draft, was the main referent of the Rockets with 21 points.
