Weather – According to meteorologists, the “Zeynep” storm with dangerous gusts of wind in parts of Europe should only marginally affect Switzerland. In the night on Saturday, peak gusts of up to 80 kilometers per hour are expected in the lowlands, and hurricane gusts in the mountains.
In Switzerland, however, the storm will not be felt as severely as in parts of northwestern Europe, the weather service Meteonews announced on Friday.
One effect of the storm in Switzerland is the mild temperatures for February. North of the Alps, the maximum values should reach 15 to 18 degrees on Friday. It was also mild at altitude, the zero degree limit was around or over 3000 meters.
Europe is currently being hit by severe storms. Millions of people in the British capital London, southern England and Wales were asked to stay at home on Friday due to stormy weather. As the British weather service announced, there is a risk of death due to flying debris at storm speeds of up to 130 kilometers per hour.
A storm on the North Sea had already caused a storm surge on Thursday and caused damage in parts of Germany. Several people died in weather-related accidents. There was property damage and traffic delays.
