The story does not say if the Chartrains will dance in circles on the Pont d’Avignon this Friday evening. But when approaching the last meeting of the first phase in the papal city, the partners of Valentin Mukuna are in a position of strength. Weakened by their ninth defeat of the season against Le Havre (73-89), Friday, the Chartrains took their destiny into their own hands, thanks to the defeat of Andrézieux (6th) at Boulogne-sur-Mer (92-80 ), Tuesday.
Valentin Mukuna: “Fresh and ready”
Especially since they were in the front row: “We followed the match together, at the coach’s. We were more relaxed than if we had had to play but it’s true that it gave us a boost! “Says the interior of a CCBM which is in 5th place in Pool B. For them, the challenge is simple: a victory in Avignon and they will be assured of qualification for the high pool (read below ).
For this crucial meeting, the lights are green. Faced with a team that can no longer hope for anything, the Chartrains, resting on Tuesday, were able to recharge the batteries: “It’s been a month since we had known a ‘normal’ week, without having to play all three days. There, we are fresh and ready,” concludes Mukuna. So ?

Poitiers and Chartres in pole position?
Poitiers is already there. Not Chartres. But in the perspective of a qualification of the CCBM for the high hen, it is these two formations which would post the best balance sheet (the results of the first phase are preserved). With 6 wins and 2 losses, Poitevins and Chartrains would start in phase 2 with a capital of 14 points. Three more than Le Havre (3v, 5d), and at least two compared to Caen (3v, 4d). But these assessments remain provisional. As in Pool B, only four qualified in Pool A are known: Poitiers, Angers, Lorient and Rueil. La Rochelle, current 5th, can still be beaten at the post by Tarbes-Lourdes, which the Maritimes receive this evening, Vitré or even Toulouse and Les Sables. A loss to the Maritimes would impact the records of the top four teams. Rueil – Angers (Pool A) and Mulhouse – Caen (Pool B), which compete tonight, will also determine the results of these teams, already qualified for the Top 10.
