Teacher Khalid Basalamah officially reported to Police Bareskim related to his lectures on haram puppets. He was reported by actor Sandy Tumiwa on Thursday (17/2).
Sandy reported that Khalid was with a community organization (Ormas) called Setya Kita Pancasila. The report was received after his party completed a number of documents requested by police investigators.
“We have received the report, all formal and material requirements have been met. We have received the report,” Sandy Tumiwa’s attorney, Yulsandi Pramana Putra, told reporters, Thursday (17/2) night.
The report was recorded in the Police Report Receipt (STTL) Number: STTL/50/II/2022/Bareskrim on behalf of Sandy Tumiwa regarding alleged violations of the Law on the Elimination of Racial and Ethnic Discrimination.
Sandy as the Head of Public Relations of Setya Kita Pancasila DPP said that his party still reported Khalid even though he had apologized.
“It does not eliminate a crime,” said Sandy.
He considered that Khalid’s lecture on haram wayang could have an impact on society. Sandy also asked Khalid not to repeat his actions again.
“I hope that as a lesson or an example so as not to say words that end up causing others to become chaotic or become troublesome,” he said.
Previously, video clips of Ustaz Khalid Basalamah’s lecture were widely circulated on social media. In the video, Khalid responds to the congregation’s questions about wayang.
According to Khalid, even though wayang is a relic of the ancestors, it does not mean that the tradition must be carried out.
“If it is indeed a legacy from our ancestors, maybe we can remember first. Oh, this is the tradition of the old people like this. But that doesn’t mean it has to be done while Islam is prohibited. We are Muslims, we should leave it,” Khalid said in his lecture.
After being in the spotlight, Khalid apologized to all parties regarding his lecture on wayang. He admitted that he had never explicitly stated that wayang was haram.
“I, Khalid Basalamah, apologize profusely from our conscience to all parties, including those who feel disturbed or offended by our response,” he said on Youtube Khalid Basalamah Official.
