Frankfurt (dpa/lhe) – Despite the recently announced easing of the corona restrictions, the “Night of the Museums” planned for this spring in Frankfurt and Offenbach has been cancelled. The city of Frankfurt announced on Thursday that the new decisions continued to include restrictions on events with a large and dynamic audience.

“The Night of the Museums has always been designed for a large number of visitors: in 2019, around 35,000 people interested in culture came, who can hardly be controlled by the organizer because they decide for themselves and spontaneously which houses they visit,” it said in a statement . In a pandemic with strict rules for major events, this represents a problem that can hardly be solved. The expected rush in many museums is so great that a comprehensive hygiene concept is hardly possible. In addition, an event of this magnitude requires a longer organizational lead time.

The last “Night of the Museums” in 2019 attracted tens of thousands of culture enthusiasts. Because of the corona pandemic, the event is now canceled for the third time in a row.
