Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Diogo Jota suffered an ankle injury in Liverpool’s win over Inter Milan last night and the star could now miss some key games.
The Portuguese started the Reds’ match at the San Siro, but was surprisingly substituted at half-time with the score tied.
Jota was substituted for Roberto Firmino at half-time, and the Brazilian opened the scoring for the visitors with 15 minutes remaining.
Mohamed Salah doubled Liverpool’s lead eight minutes later to secure a victory in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie.
Klopp was hailed for the four substitutions he made during the match to turn the tide in his team’s favor after an impressive performance from Inter.
However, the German manager admitted his first switch to remove Jota was due to injury, just days after the former Wolves man struggled with a leg against Burnley.
