New York State has the largest Jewish community outside of Israel. In recent weeks the community has been the victim of violent attacks: in December, about twenty attacks were recorded. Particularly aimed at the ultra-Orthodox community. Neighborhood security has been tightened, but religious leaders are calling for more than patrols. The governor of New York promises new laws to punish these crimes. On Sunday, a solidarity march was organized, some 30,000 people took part.
