Pilataxi died while working on a construction site at 124 Columbia Heights in the Brooklyn Heights neighborhood. He had 20 years of experience in construction, so his family and friends are having a hard time understanding how he could have fallen from that height.

According to his Facebook page, Pilataxi studied at the Technical University of Ambato and was native to from Pelileo, Tungurahua, Ecuador.

A few days before his death, he had published photos and videos where you can see his passion for his children, soccer and music.

“He was like the protector of our family,” her foster son, Jonathan Chicaiza, told NJ.com. “He was not only a hard worker, he was a great guy, he had the purest heart. Right now we are left without a father. I have two younger brothers who are not fully capable of processing this. We are trying to be strong for them.”
