“February was cruel for music lovers,” says Twitter

Bappi Lahiri and Sandhya Mukherjee – the music world has lost two beloved stars and Twitter is coming together to mourn their loss. While the former, a veteran Bollywood songwriter died of obstructive sleep apnea, the latter, a legendary Bengali singer, died yesterday of a heart attack. These two deaths come close after the disappearance of Lata Mangeshkar, the Indian nightingale. These losses left a void in the hearts of music lovers and netizens paid tribute to them. Bappi Lahiri, real name Aloksh Lahiri, popularized disco beats in Bollywood. Apart from Hindi and Bengali films, he has also composed music for a large number of Telugu films.

Bappi Lahiri was known for performing popular songs in several films from the late 1970s to 1980s like Chalte Chalte, Disco Dancer and Sharaabi. His last Bollywood song titled Bhankas was for the 2020 movie Baaghi 3.
