“In the evening of Tuesday, a fire of criminal origin took place at the Jean Jaurès elementary school. No casualties are to be deplored, however the damage is significant”announced yesterday the town hall of Drancy (Seine-Saint-Denis) in a press release published on its site.
Two classrooms burned down and two others are unusable due to the release of smoke and the soot deposited there. Despite everything, all 263 students will be able to be welcomed this Thursday.
The mayor of Drancy says to herself “indignant” by this fire in a REP-classified establishment (in a priority education zone). “The school is the place of all learning, the place where we build equal opportunities and fraternity between future citizens. No motivation can justify a crime of this type”, writes Aude Lagarde (UDI). “Each year, we invest millions of euros in the education and success of our children, which is our priority in a popular town like Drancy. I am appalled to see our efforts go up in smoke by the actions of irresponsible criminals “, she continues.
An investigation was opened to identify the perpetrator(s) of this act and the city filed a complaint.
