Andrew will donate a hefty sum to a trafficking victims’ charity, which Roberts will seek out. She had sued 61-year-old Andrew last summer. She claims that, as a 17-year-old, she had sex with the prince several times, something he strongly denies.
Roberts (38) states that she came into contact with the Andrew through the investor and pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. There is a photo showing him putting a hand around her waist, with a laughing Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s companion, in the background. According to Andrew, the photo is not real, but a trick. The original appears to be untraceable.
Settlement with Epstein
Roberts had already reached a settlement with Epstein, who died in a police cell three years ago. This agreement, a US judge had ruled, did not preclude a civil suit against Andrew. Roberts seemed determined to take the case to court, but decided to settle anyway, which will be a relief for Andrew and the rest of the royal family.
Due to her accusations, Andrew has had to relinquish his royal titles, including his address as His Royal Highness. The amount that he will transfer has not been disclosed, but it is suspected that the amount is in the millions. In the settlement, Andrew claims to admire her courage and never intended to smear her name. His own reputation has been irreparably damaged by this protracted affair.
It is undisputed that he was good friends with both Epstein and Maxwell. The latter was recently found guilty by an American jury of, among other things, human trafficking. A life sentence is imminent. Recently, pictures appeared in the English press showing Maxwell making a private visit to Buckingham Palace with Andrew, along with Bill Clinton and actor Kevin Spacey.
