The developers of the Project RED CD recently released a new patch for Cyberpunk 2077, which also includes the expected improved versions for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles. The key information was heard in a special stream in which the developers commented on the most important news and confirmed that the game also saw the first DLC. These developers refer to additions such as new apartments, along with the possibility of minor modifications, a pair of new weapons and a reworking of the way their dealer works or the ability to turn the time to the desired hour from anywhere in the game. As for the versions for the new consoles, you can get it on the Xbox through the update, which is applied to the already downloaded game, however, on the PlayStation 5 you have to download the whole new version again and don’t forget to transfer the saved position. If you do not own a Cyberpunk 2077, you can use the free 5-hour trial, from which you can then use the saved position to play the full version if the demo convinces you to buy.
Let’s start with the improvements for the new consoles, which the developers from the RED Project CD worked on, in contrast to the upcoming update for Sorcerers 3. The result is a fairly traditional division into two graphics modes – quality and performance – that distinguishes between framerate and resolution. Although the table below shows that even with the selected power mode, you will reach 4K, article on the game’s official website adds essential information that this is a dynamic resolution. However, if you prefer more agile running, the performance mode will give you 60 fps, although the developers in the table themselves have noted that there may be slight dips here and there. In terms of quality mode, the 4K resolution should be fixed and the tax for ray tracing will framerate at 30 fps. A special case is the Xbox Series S, which offers a performance mode, even if it has a setting of 30 fps and a maximum resolution of 1440p. If the division is not completely clear to you, the table below captures all the differences, including a note on the quality of SSR.
If you’re not too interested in numbers and would like to see the game itself, the developers have also released new videos that present the look of each version and mode. These are generous 30-minute demos that should give you a realistic and unadorned idea of what playing on new consoles in native versions looks like. In addition, these are identical scenes, so you can even compare before the usual experts get your own shots and analyzes. It’s a pity that the developers didn’t release the footage from the Series S as well, but we have no doubt that the unofficial will appear tonight.
But as mentioned above, it’s not just the next-gen version – patch 1.5 also brings a lot of fixes and improvements that DLC developers call in many ways. But whatever the label, the important thing is that new content is actually being added to the game, which could be the symbolic end of an era in which the RED Project CD focused only on eliminating shortcomings. The first expansion concerns the protagonist’s suite, which can now be changed to one of six new styles. However, if the location does not suit you, it is also possible to buy a brand new apartment and move to another Night City district. It was also said during the stream that if you get closer to someone, he can wake up next to you and you can use his or her apartment as a safe haven.
The apartment also has the opportunity to influence the appearance and characteristics of your figure. If you take a shower – and V will no longer shower in your clothes – you will be able to benefit from the refreshing effect for an hour, manifested by automatic regeneration of health up to 60 percent. If you sleep, you will receive a rest effect, which will result in a 20 percent increase in experience gain, again for one hour. And finally, coffee – the effect of arousal – which increases the stamina and the rate of its regeneration for an hour. If you are not satisfied with the appearance of your character, you can adjust it at any mirror in the apartment, not only with cosmetics, but also by jumping into the character editor, where you can change everything as you wish.
Another DLC concerns the 2nd Amendment arms and trade, which has been renovated and the changes also affect its operation. First of all, you will find a pair of new weapons in the offer – Darra Polytechnic Umbra and Budget Arms Guillotine. In order to buy them, they must be on offer in a store that changes once every 24 hours. The developers themselves stated that you can help yourself with another novelty – a manual shift of time – while the change of game time, at least during the presentation, did not take long. In addition to the mentioned weapons, you should also find 4 new sights and 10 muzzle brakes for pistols, submachine guns and assault rifles.
However, the biggest changes concern gameplay and are naturally important for players on other platforms, although we also come across one exception here. The very first improvement, which concerns the behavior of crowds in the streets of Night City, will not be available in versions for PS4 and Xbox One, and it was one of the most requested changes that players called for. Whatever the decision, the residents of Night City will be a little more realistic on selected platforms, and there will be times when, for example, the bouncers from the bar will intervene if a squabble takes place in close proximity. However, the developers did not present how the behavior of the police changed, and this is one of the things we will have to figure out for ourselves.
Another thing that has been modified is combat artificial intelligence – enemies should behave more believably, cover better, use their weapons better, and also fall to the ground more naturally. You should then feel the changes in the behavior of vehicles, respectively. motorcycles, not only improving the physics, but also the interior of some cars and the view from them in first person mode. The system of braking, weight redistribution, or clutch utilization was redesigned, which should result in greater enjoyment and underlining the overall automotive culture at Cyberpunk. Naturally, this should also apply to the surrounding traffic, which, like the crowds, responds better to the action unleashed by the protagonist.
The last big news is the reworking of the perk system, which seems to be very thorough. So much so that you need to reactivate all perks after applying the patch to version 1.5. Some have been completely removed from the game and in many of them their effect has changed significantly. However, the developers promise that these interventions will deepen the effects that perks come with and that they will be more logically stratified into available trees. Even in this case, however, it will be necessary to give the game some time and find out how it is with the resulting effect, which in the end also applies to a really large number of fixes divided into many categories. These include a redesigned knife-throwing system, fixes in quests with a few new surprises, the ability to refuse phone calls, take multiple tasks from fixers at once, or enjoy nicer water treatment.
