REVIEW: Oak “Inter-season love ballads”

At the beginning of this week, the land of Latvia and the whole world was hit by Valentine’s Day, which, as always, resulted in hearts and Cupid on social networks, chocolates and other gifts in real life, as well as the movie “Titanic” on all possible TV channels. various surprises.

One of them was taken care of by Latvian hip-hop veteran Ozols, who approached the theme of love with a slightly ironic touch and in cooperation with the record company “Sony Music” released a mini-album or EP “Inter-seasonal love ballads” on Valentine’s Day. In total, there are only five pieces in this edition, including one Scythian, so the whole event lasts a mere ten minutes. Kristaps Ērglis, Chris Noah, xantikvariāts, Niklāvz, Prusax, Helmuts Šteins (Katapullt), Kaspars Vizulis, Andrejs Gradinarovs, Andis Ansons and Rūdolfs Macats have also participated in the recording. “The title of the record says a lot about what to expect in it,” smiles Ozols.

“In stylistically separate compositions, I have returned to the sound of the 80’s, which is also reflected in the music video for the song” You Only Think About Yourself “, in which Lauris Reiniks also plays one of the main roles.”

For a more complete “touch” of 80’s stylistics, it is really recommended to watch this video (https://youtu.be/Iz9gYrXlg0o), made in collaboration with director Ritvaras Bluk and his team. The main roles were played by Ozols, Lauris Reiniks and Kristīne Čakare (all three are excellent in their roles!), As well as freestyle skiing masters from the association “Skilluminati”. “I always like to take part in unusual and also fun projects, so without long thinking, I accepted Ozola’s offer. We were children in the eighties, but now we could play the role of our parents at the time. It was a cool experience and getting into a time machine, ”says Lauris Reiniks.

THROUGH. The oak is a great master who is still able to change and / or adapt to the current situation in order to get involved in events with renewed vigor and return to the epicenter of rap life. Collaboration with Sony Music? To leave! Release something for Valentine’s Day? You are very welcome! The most interesting piece is, of course, “You Only Think of Yourself” with elegant guitar sounds, but the viewer would also mark “Help me” with the introductory Scythian “TJZ”, while due to the text the song “Amora Fülers” is recommended.

PRICE. Linking this mini-album project to Valentine’s Day automatically and unknowingly makes you want not to listen to it.
