The Netherlands must take into account two storms this week. It will be turbulent from tomorrow evening until the night of Friday to Saturday, NOS weather forecaster Peter Kuipers Munneke expects.
The first period of stormy weather will hit the northern half of the country from tomorrow evening to Thursday afternoon. The center of gravity will be in the Wadden area and the northwest. “Depending on the details, it can be quite windy as far as Enschede,” says Kuipers Munneke.
He expects wind gusts of up to 100 kilometers per hour. “But there is also a fairly high chance of wind gusts of more than 100 kilometers per hour.”
second storm
It will be a bit quieter from Thursday afternoon to Friday morning, but the wind will increase again during Friday afternoon. That’s the start of the second storm. “There is more uncertainty about that storm,” said the weatherman. “That’s because the area with high winds is more compact, but possibly also more vicious than the first storm.”
According to current expectations, it will be a severe storm with very strong wind gusts of more than 120 kilometers per hour. “The course and strength of this storm is currently a bit more uncertain, so it is not possible to say with certainty exactly how hard the wind will be on Friday, and which regions will be affected the most.”
As it looks now, the wind will be especially strong in the west and north of the country. “But a single weather model foresees very heavy gusts of wind in Zeeland and on the Flemish coast.”
