AMD announced an agreement to acquire rival Xilinx in October 2020, with Xilinx shareholders receiving approximately 1.7 AMD shares for each share. The transaction was worth $ 35 billion at the time of the deal, but has since risen due to rising AMD stock prices, Reuters reported.

AMD chief Lisa Su said the acquisition would improve the company’s position in key areas such as data centers, fifth-generation (5G) wireless networks and the automotive and armaments industries.

Competitive Nvidia did not march
Nvidia announced last week that it had canceled the acquisition of ARM due to regulatory hurdles. According to Reuters, the value of this transaction would be as high as $ 80 billion (CZK 1.7 trillion).
–
Nvidia announced an agreement to acquire ARM from SoftBank last September. The agreed purchase price consisted of cash and Nvidia shares. At the time of the agreement, it was $ 40 billion, but in the meantime Nvidia’s share price has also risen sharply.
–
The takeover agreement has raised concerns about ARM’s continued ownership of licensing its technologies under its new owner. The US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) filed a lawsuit in December to block the transaction. The agreement has also been the subject of in-depth investigations in the European Union and Britain.
