After Marie-France Pisier, Audrey Tautou and Anna Mouglalis, it’s the turn of Juliette Binoche to embody the famous Coco Chanel on screen. Including the cast of The New Look, future series of Apple TV +, the actress will therefore be the fourth Frenchwoman to put herself in the shoes of Gabrielle Chanel in front of the camera. And to stand up to him, the Australian Ben Mendelsohn will become Christian Dior. The duo will evolve in the Paris of the Second World War, reports Collider.

Signed by Todd A. Kessler (Bloodline), in association with Apple Studios, The New Look will be written and produced by Kessler, also creator of the project. She will chronicle Dior’s rise to prominence as a fashion designer, eventually dethroning Chanel at the top of the Parisian fashion world thanks to her groundbreaking designs. In parallel, The New Look will feature other great fashion names of the time such as Pierre Balmain, Cristóbal Balenciaga, Hubert de Givenchy and many more.
Filming of the series, produced by Kessler, Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark A. Baker, is currently dated in the spring. It will take place in Paris. The New Look will then be broadcast exclusively on Apple TV+.
As a reminder, the last incarnation of fashion designer Coco Chanel saw Geraldine Chaplin take on the role in 2013, in a short film by Karl Lagerfeld titled The Return. Shirley MacLaine and Keira Knightley had also become the designer. Kristen Stewart also took on the role of Gabrielle Chanel in Once and Foreversigned Karl Lagerfeld.
