Terje (61) gone without a trace: – New information about the disappearance mystery

Who drove Terje Johansen’s car? Was he alone? If he was the driver, what did he do outside Stockholm – miles outside the natural route choice? And where has he gone?

The questions have been many with the Swedish police, after Norwegian Terje Johansen (61) disappeared without a trace on his way from his home in Horten to northern Norway via Sweden. When he left the country, according to the police, he had about half a million kroner in his account, which was to be used to buy a home when he arrived.

But the Norwegian’s car, a gray pickup Isuzu, was found abandoned in early December on a slope on Muskö under strange circumstances. The driver’s door was open. A recent field of wood was behind the car and one of the signs had been removed. Inside the car, both personal belongings and valuables were abandoned.

The finding led to more questions than answers. Now the answer to why the car ended up far away from the natural route for Johansen’s journey may be closer, after a new witness has appeared.

Observed by guard

– According to a guard at the navy’s facility on Muskö, Terje had made a mistake and ended up at one of their barriers. Terje said there that he was going to an address in Canada, an area north of the island. It was also in this area that his car was later found, says investigation leader Ulf Sundström to Dagbladet.

The new information has led the police to consider it probable that Johansen had an errand on the island. What he should and who he should meet, however, is still a mystery. The guard who has provided the information does not remember the address that the Norwegian provided when they spoke together at the barrier.

The question of whether the 61-year-old may have been exposed to something criminal along the way and that others may have driven his car to Muskö, still seems to have been clarified.

– According to the guard, it was Terje himself who drove the car. So something has happened out on Muskö, says Sundström.

Found account activity in Sweden

Despite the new information, the police have not planned new searches for the Norwegian. Searches have already been made with search dogs. In addition, sonar has been searched in the sea.

In parallel with the investigation in Sweden, work is also being done on traces in Norway. Hilde Loftesnes, chief police officer at the South-East police district in Horten, informs Dagbladet that they have found account activity after Johansen left the country.

– I can confirm that the missing person’s bank card has been used in Sweden after leaving Norway. We are talking about smaller sums at a petrol station, shop and restaurants, Loftesnes writes in an SMS.
