A child was injured in an accident in the Werfenweng ski area in Salzburg’s Pongau. The boy was trapped between two vehicles.
The dangerous incident happened on Sunday around noon in the Werfenweng ski area. A 42-year-old from Salzburg drove his car into a slightly sloping parking lot in the municipal area when his vehicle skidded on the slippery snowy road.
Although the driver is said to have tried to brake, he touched an 8-year-old boy from the Czech Republic and then crashed into a parked vehicle. The boy was trapped between the cars. However, because the car continued to slide and damaged other vehicles, the little ski tourist was able to free himself.
No winter tires mounted
According to initial investigations, the driver had mounted summer tires on his car and had therefore skidded his vehicle across the parking lot. He was reported for violating the winter tire obligation and negligent bodily harm. The boy suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the accident. He had to be flown to the Schwarzach hospital in a rescue helicopter.
