The threat was disclosed in a report by the Interfax news agency on Monday (14/2/2022).
“However, such a decision will only be taken at the highest level,” the military official said.

The United States on Saturday denied carrying out any military operations in Russian waters after Moscow said a Russian naval vessel had pursued a US submarine in Russian waters in the Pacific.

The Kremlin also said it did not see comments from Ukraine’s ambassador to the UK as a signal of an official change in Ukraine’s position on wanting to join NATO.

However, the Kremlin said the move would significantly help address Russia’s security concerns if Ukraine really gave up its intention to become a member of the NATO alliance.
Ukraine’s ambassador to Britain on Monday clarified earlier statements about the possibility of canceling the bid for NATO membership.
He said the former Soviet republic would not reconsider its efforts to join a military alliance. That means, Ukraine still intends to join NATO despite threats from Russia.
