104 residents are attacked, Southwest Sumba-NTT decides dengue fever outbreak

The stipulation of the KLB is because currently DHF cases in Southwest Sumba Regency have reached 104 cases

Kupang (ANTARA) – The Regency Government (Pemkab) of Southwest Sumba (SBD), East Nusa Tenggara Province determined that the area was an extraordinary occurrence (KLB) of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) after cases of DHF in the district continued to increase to reach 104 cases, and one people are declared dead.

Southwest Sumba Regent Kornelius Kodi Mete in a copy of the circular (SE) received by ANTARA in Kupang, Monday said that the KLB was determined because currently the dengue cases in the district have reached 104 cases.

“Compared to 2021 in the same period, there were only 10 cases and zero deaths. But now one person has died,” he said.

He predicts that dengue cases in Southwest Sumba will continue to increase and it is feared that it will last until April 2021. Therefore, he appealed to various parties to be ready.

Several things that must be considered, he said, are increasing community participation in efforts to control the Aedes Aegypty mosquito vector by conducting a simultaneous movement to eradicate mosquito nests (PSN).

Then the community also coordinates with sub-district and village/kelurahan officials in their respective areas regarding the control of the mosquito vector “Aedes Agypti”, the carrier of the dengue virus that causes dengue fever.

“We also ask religious leaders to convey to the public through the pulpit to always maintain cleanliness around the house,” said Kornelius Kodi Mete.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Population and Civil Registration Health Office (DKKPS) of NTT, Dr. Meserasi Ataupah, when confirmed, confirmed this and said that he was in a meeting to discuss the DHF and KLB cases in Southwest Sumba.

“For provinces, KLB has not been determined. We are still looking at the districts/cities first,” he said.
