Bergamo –
Juventus held to a draw Atalanta 1-1 in continuation Italian League. Bianconeri coach Massimiliano Allegri confirmed his team was out of the hunt for the Scudetto this season.
During a visit to Bergamo, Monday (14/2/2022) early in the morning, Juventus almost lost after Ruslan Malinovsky scored a beautiful goal from distance in the 76th minute. But Danilo’s header in injury time allowed the Bianconeri to take one point to Turin.
Although not defeated, Juventus’ position is still not safe in the top four of the standings. Currently, they are still in fourth position with 46 points, two points ahead of Atalanta below.
However, Atalanta have only played 24 times, while Juventus have played 25 times. If La Dea win in that one saving match, then the Bianconeri will be overtaken.
Don’t forget that the distance between Juventus and AC Milan as the top of the standings is still 9 points adrift. Although there are still many matches left until May, Allegri feels that his team has not been consistent in being able to win the Scudetto.
“We were officially out of the Scudetto hunt long before this match. The gap between the points that have to be cut from the top three teams is too much. We just want to improve our performance, especially in the finishing. We need to be even better than now,” Allegri told DAZN .
Allegri also feels his team’s defense has not been satisfactory. That’s why he refuses to talk about the title.
“I think in the last 10-12 years, the only team with the best defense that failed to win the Scudetto was Maurizio Sarri’s Napoli a few seasons ago. In September I said, Inter will win. I still feel they are the strongest squad, without compromising respect to Milan and Naples.
“And now, Inter are stronger than Juve. We lost too many points at the start of the season. If the difference is only four points, maybe we can still have fun, but the situation is not like that right,” explained Allegri.
