Lifting a truck in a strength contest is authorized and supervised. Lifting a car when you come back from a drunken evening is forbidden. And yet this is what five young men did, Sunday February 13, 2022 in the early morning in a street in Dijon. Around 3 a.m., rue Diderot, they lift a Smart – a small car model – which ends up lying on its side. Result for the vehicle: the two mirrors and the bumper broken, with the entire left side scratched. For them, a night at the post office and surely a check to sign.
They recognize the facts
The police are called by witnesses, who saw the group go into hiding in a building. The police are ringing, knocking. The “lifters” come out and are taken to the police station for a police custody – delayed for a few hours because of a passage in drunkenness cell. They are six, are between 22 and 23 years old and come from Dijon but also from Lans and Saint-Marcel (Saône-et-Loire).
At the end of the sobering up, they recognize the facts. An alcoholic evening, first in an apartment, then at the bar. And on the way back, “for no particular reason”they lifted the car. Of the six, one is cleared. Just an observer. The other five will be summoned on March 7, 2022 before the prosecutor’s delegate. They could receive a legal reminder, and a classification if they compensate the victim, who filed a complaint. As for the returned car, it was put back on its four wheels by the police, helped by reinforcements.
