The (unnecessary) risks we run with our Israeli tap system

The Israeli company that supplies the tapping system for the Dutch police is known for the production of weapons, ammunition, drones and even (prohibited) cluster bombs. The defense company is controversial, but it is the supplier of one of our most sensitive systems.

According to experts is that irresponsible and are we naive that we leave such sensitive data to the Israelis, and do not have it in their own hands.

Six years ago, our tapping system was already under discussion, and the responsible minister promised to improve.

But after much commotion about the tap system we used then, Nieuwsuur reporter Bas Haan discovered that little has changed (and the risks have only increased):

The ministry informed us last week responded by email on this story and write not much to say on the matter, but that the tender was carried out according to the rules. This week, Minister Dilan Yesilgöz said she “understands the concerns” and that she has raised questions in her ministry. She will return to the issue in the House of Representatives next week, she says.
