This free initiative entitled Ready-to-wear solos, fall collection was made following the series of performances offered last summer with Dare! alone. A project where spectators watched intimate performances, on the street, offered by dancers.

This new adventure by the Danse K par K company takes place every day between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. A smart phone or tablet with headphones is required to enter the QR codes to fully appreciate the experience and access the soundtracks of the dance short films directed by Karine Ledoyen and Eliot Laprise.

There are no screens in the windows of participating businesses. The short films, broadcast by a projector, can be watched on the surface of our hands, on snow-covered mittens, when it is on the go, on a coat sleeve or on a paper surface.

“We had thought of screens when we developed this project, but it was complex. It would have brought gatherings in front of the windows and we couldn’t do that with COVID. It was important to keep the theme of intimacy and that’s what this way of doing allows. There is a kind of intimacy with the dancers”, indicated Karine Ledoyen, during an interview.

The intimate

Five dancers are featured in this series of short films shot in different locations in Quebec and surrounding areas.

We find Jessica Serli in the window of Alphonse Cuisine & Cocktail (rue Sainte-Anne), Louise Bédard in that of Caméléon Designer (côte de la Fabrique), James Viveiros and Medy Jean-Pierre at Ernest – Vieux-Québec (rue Saint -Jean), and Stacey Désilier in front of the Souris Mini–Vieux-Québec store (rue Saint-Jean). Banners identify the shop windows.

Mediators are present on certain evenings of the week to guide visitors through this experience.
