The 21st round of the Fortuna League brought a match between Baník Ostrava and Teplice. However, the Silesian team did not manage this duel at all and the guests will take the full number of points from Ostrava. What aspects are behind Baník’s big loss?
The unrecognized goal of Teplice from the seventeenth minute of the first half, which was not recognized by the main referee due to the offside position of the visiting striker, as if foreshadowing the subsequent development of the match.
Four minutes later, Baník sent Ladislav Almás to the lead. The Slovak striker took advantage of Jiří Fleišman’s great center and placed the ball in the lower right corner of the goal with his head – 1: 0!
After the goal scored, however, it was no longer the Baník as in the first twenty minutes. The initiative was clearly taken over by Teplice, who scored a equalizing goal in the 41st minute and deservedly equalized. Nineteen-year-old Vaclav Sejk scored the goal.
As coach Smetana acknowledged immediately after the match, Baník was not of sufficient quality today. And this is exactly what manifested itself in the second half. It can be said that Ondřej Smetana’s charges have unnecessarily adapted to the tactics of the away team in this match.
The Silesians also simply lacked football. The Baník game was without ideas, and last but not least, the home players mainly missed the movement that Ubong Ekpai or Gigli Ndefe from the defensive ranks sought.
It should be noted – the arrangement that coach Smetana ordered for his charges does not suit Baník. Jiří Klíma held the somewhat atypical position of midfielder today, and this also had a significant effect on Baník’s play.
The climate was not fully utilized, the midfielder Lukáš Budínský was almost invisible, and Šimon Falta did not come with any interesting pass. The defense of Baník, which was really burning like paper, was very bad today. Fleišman made a large number of mistakes.
At the end of the first half, he hesitated incredibly with a free kick and almost started a counterattack by Teplice. Fans of the Silesian team on social networks also criticized Martin Chlumecký’s performance.
On the contrary, the guests benefited from the great performance of Jan Fortelný, Filip Žák and Václav Sejk, who scored his first two league goals in this match.
In the 83rd minute, the Silesians only had to correct the result to the final 2: 4 and record an unexpected loss. Thanks to great defensive activities, Teplice is rejoicing in a well-deserved victory, moving to the fourteenth place ahead of the fifteenth Pardubice.
