A year of Masters in New York? The Südtiroler Volksbank makes this dream possible for four business students

In the coming academic year, four students of the Master’s program in Accounting and Finance will have the opportunity to complete their second year at Baruch College in New York. Thanks to the scholarships financed by the Südtiroler Volksbank, high-performing students can acquire an Italian-American double degree.

The Master’s degree in Accounting and Finance, which is now being offered for the fourth time, has developed into one of the most attractive courses at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano. Not only because of the modern design of the courses, but also because of the opportunity to complete the second and final year of study in New York. Selected students can attend the “Master of Science in Finance” or the “Master of Science in Accountancy” at Baruch College and thus complete their studies with a double degree, which opens the doors to an international career in the world of finance, management and consulting , in senior management and in auditing and consulting.

For this reason, unibz has also reached an agreement with one of the long-standing sponsors of the course for the academic year 2022/23 to finance scholarships, which will enable the students to study at the American university. The Südtiroler Volksbank, which has already made it possible for Masters students to spend a year in New York in the past, has decided to step up its commitment to securing young talent in South Tyrol and would therefore like to provide four students with a scholarship in the coming academic year.

We rely on the younger generations, even before they enter the world of work, because they are our future,” emphasizes Christian Unterkircher, Head of Human Resources at the Südtiroler Volksbank. “This year, the Volksbank decided to support their growth and further training by financing 4 To support scholarships (3 more than last year) that will enable them to attend the double degree master’s degree at Baruch College in New York in the next academic year. For years, the Volksbank has offered students the opportunity to complete an individual internship that is tailored to their interests, inclinations and study commitments. For us it is of fundamental importance to continue the profitable cooperation that has existed for years with the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano in order to promote the curricula in line with the needs of companies and to make it easier for young people to enter a constantly changing world of work”.

The scholarships are a clear sign that a master’s degree creates added value for companies in the region from a professional and HR point of view and that those involved appreciate this. “We are very grateful to the Volksbank for supporting four talents on their educational path and for the trust that this places in the cooperation between our master’s program and such a renowned university as Baruch College,” emphasizes Prof. Paolo Perego, head of the master’s program in Accounting and Finance. “After all, not every student could afford the high tuition fees of $19,000 in the USA.”
