The iPhone 13 was released last year and is powered by Apple’s A15 Bionic chip. As for the Galaxy S22, it was released a few days ago and features Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip. However, tests show that the former is faster than the latter.
The iPhone 13 Pro Max is faster than the Galaxy S22 Ultra
These tests were realized by the website PCMag. The site notes that the Galaxy S22 is the most powerful Android smartphone he has tested so far. However, the results obtained by the Galaxy S22 from Samsung (released in 2022) are lower than those of theiPhone 13 Pro and of theiPhone 13 Pro Max from Apple (released in 2021).
This is how during the Geekbench 5 tests, the Galaxy S22 Ultra (with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor) scored 1,232 with one core and 3,433 with all cores. As for theiPhone 13 Pro Max (with Apple’s A15 Bionic chip) it scored 1,721 with one core and 4,706 with all cores.
The site has produced another benchmark called Geekbench ML (Machine Learning), which therefore concerns automatic learning. In this test, theiPhone 13 Pro Max got a score of 948 and the Galaxy S22 Ultraa score of 448.
Note also that the Galaxy S22 sold in the United States and in a few other countries embed the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip from Qualcomm. The Galaxy S22s sold in Europe, however, are equipped with Samsung’s Exynos 2200 chip (less efficient in terms of raw power). The score obtained when all the cores are used is around 3,000. Which means that Apple is still ahead with its iPhone 13.
Besides, the tests note that there could be heating and performance throttling issues that affect Samsung’s Galaxy S22s. In fact theDuring tests, the Galaxy S22 Ultra “would overheat quickly, and as soon as it overheats, the results are lower”indicates PCMag.
