According to US officials, the State Department plans to announce on Saturday morning that all embassy staff have been ordered to leave Ukraine.
The State Department, which declined to comment on the news, had previously ordered Kiev to leave the embassy staff family members. On the other hand, employees who are not considered irreplaceable have so far been allowed to decide for themselves whether to leave Ukraine.
Officials who wished to remain anonymous because they were not authorized to discuss the issue said some U.S. diplomats were likely to be relocated to western Ukraine and stationed on the Polish border to maintain the United States’ diplomatic presence.
