After several days of moderate weather with temperatures topping 70 on Friday, a cold front is set to dampen plans for the weekend.
According to the forecast of NBC5 (KXAS-TV), Friday temperatures are expected to reach the high 70s, with a sunny day and a light cool breeze.
But a cold front is approaching tonight and will cover the region with clouds. “There is a slight chance of rain tonight and even early Saturday east and southeast of DFW,” said KXAS-TV meteorologist Grant Johnston.
Next week will feature warm and windy conditions with an elevated fire weather threat the first half of the week, followed by showers/storms and much cooler weather the second half. The severe weather threat Wed/Wed night remains low at this time. #dfwwx #ctxwx #txwx pic.twitter.com/obNLLfRLwf

But the worst will be the wind and icy conditions. Most of Saturday will be in the 40s and temperatures will even be below freezing by early Sunday morning. However, by Sunday afternoon they will have recovered to be back in the 60s and 70s again, Johnston warned.
The National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed the presence of the cold front in North Texas and warned of the possibility of fires, due to cold winds and dry conditions in the region, especially tonight.
The fire threat will continue through Tuesday as winds continue, the Weather Service said.
There will be rain? Apparently, next Wednesday or Thursday is shaping up to be a rainy day, there are even chances of storms. Up to an inch of precipitation is expected, something the region needs, Johnston said.
The NWS is warning of a chance for thunderstorms on Thursday, but the potential for severe weather is low.
