This is confirmed by the US Department of Defense.
The 3,000 come from the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg in North Carolina.
The soldiers are scheduled to be in Poland during the next week.
They are in addition to the 8,500 troops the United States already has ready to be sent to Europe at short notice, and the 3,000 troops the United States has already announced are sending to Poland and Romania.
The American movements come in response to the tens of thousands of Russian soldiers who have been sent to the border areas with Ukraine in recent months, which Ukraine and the West fear will be used for an invasion of the country.
