Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
MotoGP Mandalika 2022 which will be held on March 20, has learned an important lesson on the first day of the Mandalika MotoGP test, Friday (11/2).
Two days before the test was held, MotoGP released the schedule for the Mandalika MotoGP test starting at 09.00 WITA or 10.00 WIB until 17.00 WITA or 18.00 WIB. However, the implementation of the Mandalika MotoGP test did not go according to plan.
In the test, the Mandalika Circuit was dirty due to dust and dirt scattered on the track. The MotoGP party via uploads on Twitter said the track was dirty because of the rain that flushed the Mandalika area overnight.
The rain that night, which was supported by the construction of circuit support facilities for the Mandalika MotoGP, was another factor that the Mandalika Circuit was dirty because of the soil.
As a result of this problem, the test at Mandalika had to be temporarily suspended. Discontinuation was made after the test had run for more than an hour.
Racers and a number of MotoGP teams are also busy uploading the condition of their motorbikes and racing uniforms that are dirty because of the mud on the track.
Dirty, dusty and muddy tracks are not a new sight in MotoGP. The Qatar MotoGP at the Losail Circuit is one of the series that often has problems with dirty tracks because of its location which is surrounded by sand.
It’s just that, when performing at Losail, the drivers and teams are not busy expressing their complaints about the dirtiness.

The dirtiness of the Mandalika Circuit due to dust and mud is very unfortunate, especially since MotoGP has a level above the World Superbike (WSBK) which will be held in November 2021.
WSBK Mandalika should be a very important lesson for the MGPA (Mandalika Grand Prix Association). At the WSBK Mandalika event, the situation was even worse. Heavy rains made the drainage in the circuit unable to cope with the discharge of water.
Due to inadequate preparation, the event had to be postponed to Race 1 because of the rain that fell on the D day.
Due to the intolerable delay, the Superpole session had to be eliminated, so that WSBK Mandalika only held Race 1 and Race 2.
Unfortunately, the situation at the Mandalika WSBK was not immediately anticipated by MGPA as the owner of the Mandalika MotoGP test ‘gawean’. The Mandalika WSBK incident seemed neglected.

The incident of the Mandalika MotoGP test was not as bad as that of the Mandalika WSBK, but it still disturbed the MotoGP racers and teams which could have an impact on Indonesia’s image as the host and organizer.
Dirty Mandalika Circuit is a serious problem that does not need to happen at the Mandalika MotoGP on March 20.
Moreover, racers such as Fabio Quartararo, Francesco Bagnaia, Maverick Vinales, to Alex Rins dared to meet Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta protesting the condition of the Mandalia Circuit. The reason is because of security and safety factors.
As a result, the Mandalika MotoGP test got an ‘ultimatum’, when the track was not totally clean, the test had to end earlier than the original schedule. The driver’s complaint to Dorna was a stern reminder to MGPA.
The MGPA needs to pay special attention to these alarms related to the safety and security of drivers.
