Thousands of residents sign the online petition via change.org urge the government to cancel the Regulation of the Minister of Manpower (Permenaker) of the Republic of Indonesia Number 2 of 2022 concerning Procedures and Requirements for Payment of Old Age Security Benefits (JHT).
In this regulation, JHT funds can only be disbursed when the employee is 56 years old.

In the statement, the petition was addressed to the Minister of Manpower (Menaker) Ida Fauziyah, the Ministry of Manpower, and President Joko Widodo.
Suhari Ete, the party who raised the petition, said that with the new regulation, workers who have been laid off (PHK) or resigned can only take JHT funds at retirement age.
He explained that if a worker or worker is laid off when he is 30 years old, he must wait 26 years after the layoff to get JHT funds.
“Even though we as workers really need these funds for business capital after being laid off. Therefore, let’s vote together to reject and #Cancel Permenaker Number 2/2022 concerning Procedures and Terms of Paying Old Age Security Benefits,” he said.
It is known, in Permenaker Number 2 of 2022, it is explained that JHT benefits are paid to participants if they reach retirement age, experience permanent total disability, or die.
In addition, the JHT benefits also apply to participants who stop working such as resigning, being terminated, and participants leaving Indonesia for good.
“The benefits of JHT for the Participant resigning as referred to in Article 4 paragraph (2) letter a and the Participant being terminated as referred to in Article 4 paragraph (2) letter b are provided when the Participant reaches the age of 56 years,” reads article 5 of the Manpower Ministry. the.
