The United States is asking Canada to use federal force against the border blockade

The US Secretary of State for Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas, called his Canadian counterpart on Thursday. In the conversation, he called on Canada to use federal force to resolve the situation on the border between the two countries, and he said that his ministry gives its full support.

US Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg has also spoken to his Canadian counterpart. This conversation was about the importance of the US supply chain.

Protesters who want to force Canada to remove coronation measures and vaccine requirements for truck drivers crossing the border are blocking three border crossings between the two countries, including the Ambassador Bridge, which connects Windsor in Canada and Detroit in the United States.

According to the Canadian authorities, 25 percent of the country’s trade passes through this transition. Several car factories in Canada announced on Wednesday that they have had to close or reduce operations due to difficulties with access to parts as a result of the blockade.
