John van den Heuvel ‘deeply disappointed’ in colleague Mick van Wely

“It is very regrettable that female colleagues of the editorial staff of The Telegraph – whose names I don’t even know – being treated unfairly by transgressive behaviour,” John said in a response. He continues: “I am deeply disappointed and think first of all of the colleagues who have been confronted with this. Furthermore, like many other colleagues, I have the necessary questions after I was briefly informed very recently.”

“Mick and I have been through a lot in recent years and were sometimes under extreme pressure from serious threats and security measures. So I don’t want to let Mick down now, but my collaboration with him will be suspended for the foreseeable future. That’s sad but it is unavoidable under these circumstances.”

“I realize that I have exceeded limits with my actions and I apologize for that”, Mick van Wely said in an earlier comment† “In the near future I will work on myself under professional supervision and hope to be able to resume my work after a period of non-activeness.”
