Meta provides new options for the messenger. The Vanish fashion for news is also mentioned – although it was introduced over a year ago.
Meta is a world power in social messaging: people write billions of messages every day not only via WhatsApp, but also via Instagram and Messenger. They send GIFs and memes, videos and photos and use the numerous features that Meta is constantly introducing. This also includes the so-called Vanish fashion, which Adam Mosseri presented for Instagram last year. Meta had already introduced the option to make messages disappear again for WhatsApp in 2020. Now the feature is also being pointed out as part of the presentation of new messaging options in Messenger – Meta (then still as Facebook) introduced this Vanish mode for Messenger at the end of 2020.
New Messenger features: More control over voice messages, split payments and Vanish Mode
From the latest blog post from Meta it is not clear that the Vanish mode has been revised for Messenger. However, it is referred to as an option if certain messages should disappear from the chat again. With a simple swipe-up in a chat thread, the Vanish mode can be activated.

In addition to this function, users of the messenger now have the option to send longer voice messages. Instead of just up to one minute, they can now be up to 30 minutes long. In addition, users can pause, delete or listen to a preview of a voice message before sending it. This should benefit some users if they have to think again or are interrupted during long messages.

Furthermore, Meta has also introduced the Split Payments feature for the messenger. But only for the iOS and Android users in the USA. They can now press the plus icon in a group chat and open a Payments tab. This gives you the option of splitting an invoice before a personalized message can be sent to the parties involved. They provide payment details and can then send and receive money, similar to PayPal.
